A new year has rolled in, and much like anything in this world, we can expect to see many great, weird and wonderful things coming up on the horizon, especially in the tech world. There are a couple of tech forecasts - some true, some still a work in progress, and some seem too far-fetched - you can be the decider. However, it is our duty to share our takeaways for this year's tech trends we think you should keep an eye out for!

According to Gartner's top 10 strategic technology trends for 2023, the top 10 tech trends can be grouped into three comprehensible categories:

  • Optimizing IT systems for greater reliability, improving data-driven decision-making, and maintaining the value integrity of production AI systems.

  • Scaling vertical offerings, increasing the pace of product delivery, and enabling connectivity everywhere.

  • Pioneering business model change, reinventing engagement with employees and customers, and accelerating strategies to tap new virtual markets.

  • With these progressions in tech, the theme that will stay consistent is the objective to remain sustainable.

IDC, another leader in data analysis, has provided numerous predictions in tech 2023 and beyond worldwide IT industry predictions for 2023.

In 2023, 70% of enterprises' adoption of as-a-service infrastructure/software will be curbed more by an inability to assess promises of faster innovation and operational gains than by cost concerns.

By the end of 2024, 60% of platinum-level aaS offerings in security, business operations, and DaaS will include bundled access to specialized SME teams to help reduce the impact of skills shortages.

Through 2024, shortcomings in critical skills creation and training efforts by IT industry leaders will prevent 65% of businesses from achieving full value from cloud, data, and automation investments.

In 2025, 60% of infrastructure, security, data, and network offerings will require cloud-based control platforms that enable extensive automation and promise major reductions in ongoing operating costs.

The above information points to the belief of CIO's being tasked with delivering a more reliable, secure and sustainable technology delivery system.
