Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity in ALL we do.
In a world with an abundance of diversity (age, race, gender, culture, sexual orientation, ethnicity; the list goes on.) It's important to not only acknowledge diversity in our workplaces, but to embrace them and focus on equality!
By enhancing awareness of our individual distinctness and immersing ourselves in the beauty of being different, accepting others' differences and raising one another up for that cause, literally and figuratively brings us together. Not only in our day-to-day lives does this frame of mind impact how we behave, communicate and interact with others, but extends itself greatly into how we treat teammates and prospects in the workplace too.
We spend the majority of our time at and in the workplace; conversing, interacting, meeting, sharing, continuously engaging with one another; whether remotely, in the same office or on an entirely different continent. No matter if the organization is spread out globally or shared in one office space, when it comes to the quality of how we treat one another and the unity of colleagues under one organizational "roof", respect and acceptance should be an integral facet.
According to Workshops, Consulting by Dr. Christie Cooper, research indicates:
â—¦Diverse teams are 35% more likely to perform better, 70% more likely to capture new markets, and 87% better at decision making.
â—¦Inclusive organizations are 1.7x more innovative and 120% more likely to achieve their financial goals.
It's clear to see that for a business to perform successfully in this day and age, it is imperative for leaders to install, promote and adopt a mindset of embracing DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity) in the organization. Leaders must work towards educating and encouraging employees of the value that diversity brings to not only the organization, but to their own minds and hearts: "To see the world through new eyes" and see the beauty it so willingly portrays.
It's imperative to embrace diversity; to learn from one another, encourage it, treat one another as equals, implement DEI strategies into the workplace and allow it to become the new eyes through which our future generations see the world. Our differences are what makes us unique, NOT lesser.
In actual fact, being different gives us the opportunity to grow as human beings in and outside of the workplace.
